Plans for more than 400 new homes in Bristol have progressed after private sector partners for two developments were announced in December.
Goram Homes has been appointed to work with Vistry Partnerships (formerly Galliford Try Partnerships) on the Romney House development and with housebuilding firm Hill on the The Baltic Wharf Caravan Club site. It is expected that the two schemes will deliver around 430 new homes, with almost 50% being affordable.
Stephen Baker, managing director of Goram Homes, said: "It marks an important step in Goram’s journey to becoming a significant contributor of quality new homes in Bristol and we’re looking forward to commencing work on site during 2020.”
Demolition work on the Romney House site will start in 2020, with new homes set to be available from spring 2021.
Craig Currie, managing director - West at Vistry Partnerships, said: “We have a strong track record of delivering high-quality new and affordable homes throughout Bristol, working with the council and other partners to create sustainable new communities, so we’re extremely pleased to be working with Goram Homes at its flagship new development at Romney House.
“This new joint venture is a great example of the council’s innovative approach to getting more new homes built, and it perfectly matches our own ambitions as a leading regeneration specialist.”
Plans for the Baltic Wharf site are going out for consultation in February, and Andy Hill, chief executive of Hill, said: “We’re creating an exciting new community that is inspired by the surrounding streetscape and harbourside history. The scheme will see the area transformed into a fantastic new waterside location, with a new public square, wildlife-friendly green spaces and commercial units that will add significant value to Baltic Wharf.”
Councillor Paul Smith, cabinet member for housing at Bristol City Council, said: “We are doing everything we can to accelerate the building of housing across the city, especially affordable homes.
“Goram Homes is helping to achieve this ambition and is ensuring that good quality homes are built to best suit the needs of the local community.”
